San Jose State University

San Jose State offers a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science as one of their 134 degree options. This is a 4-year public school with just under 30,000 students. The program included required courses such as introduction to computers, concepts of compiler design, embedded programming, technical writing, wireless mobile networking, etc. This program is designed to prepare students for entry-level jobs in the tech field.
San Jose City College

San Jose City College is a two year, public community college with fewer than 10,000 students. The college offers two Associate degree options related to computer science consisting of an associate degree in Computer Applications and an associate degree in Computer Information Systems. Coursework focuses on teaching students skills to operate computers in the business world. Students will learn such skills as how to use Microsoft Office applications and maximize internet research. Required courses include computer programming, network administration, web applications systems and web site administration.
Mission College
Santa Clara, CA
Mission College is a two-year, public school that offers associate degrees and professional certificates. Students can choose to concentrate on either computer networking or computer programming. A computer networking focus will concentrate on skills such as designing physical networks. A focus on computer programming will emphasize computer software and systems.
